When it comes to planning your bridal look, the details make all the difference which of course include your wedding shoes. When I first went into bridal shoes, to be honest I wasn’t really into ivory at all, although I’ve since come to love it and appreciate it’s surprising versatility! So whilst ivory has always featured, the collection has always included a range of colours which are gorgeous in their own right but can also be easily worn as wedding shoes. The signature RS colour palette for wedding shoes hasn’t changed that much over the years and with good reason- each shade has been carefully chosen for its elegance, subtlety and versatility and hey, if it ain’t broke…

Whether you’re drawn to the timeless elegance of classic ivory, the soft romance of pretty pastels, or the chic glamour of metallic gold, selecting the right colour can change up your entire look. So how to choose? In this blog I wanted to look at each colour individually, it’s personality and feel (and why I love it!) so that hopefully by the end of it you’ll have a better idea of which colour to go for on the big day.

Classic ivory- timeless elegance

As I said in my intro, I wasn’t that keen on ivory when I first started the brand (gasp!). Up to that point ivory wedding shoes brought to mind those awful clumpy satin things which used to be the norm, like somehow because you were getting married you were leaving all your sense of style at the door! Fast forward a couple of collections and I was converted- turns out it wasn’t the colour but the design of those particular beauties which made me cringe. Don’t get me wrong, other colours are probably more versatile year round, but pop on a pair of ivory heels with jeans and a summer top and you can absolutely wear your ivory wedding shoes again! Plus, if you want a traditional and timeless look then ivory is definitely an excellent choice.

Something blue- a touch of tradition

If you want to be in keeping with tradition but ivory is a little too classic for you, why not consider wearing blue shoes for your wedding? Incorporating your ‘something blue’ into your bridal outfit is a modern alternative to the classic blue garter and let’s be honest, you’re much more likely to re-wear the shoes! Blue wedding shoes offer a subtle yet meaningful way to honour this age-old tradition but in a stylishly modern way. I’ve included a range of blues in the collection over the years, but this most recent dusky blue is by far my favourite (I actually wore Isadora blue for my own wedding). It’s just such a stunning shade of blue, soft and elegant with a touch of a grey tone which just looks so beautiful peeking out from under your dress.

Mint green- vintage & modern combined

Spoiler alert, I love mint green. Okay probably not a huge shock seeing as it’s been in the collection since forever and is, of course, featured in the latest launch. It’s just such a pretty colour and whilst it has a nod to a vintage theme (think mint green with pops of coral, amazing!), it somehow manages to be fresh and modern at the same time. Mint green shoes can add a beautiful, light and airy feel to your bridal look- it adds colour but in a soft, subtle way. Mint green wedding shoes also lend themselves perfectly to outdoor and garden themed weddings beautifully, and compliment ivory, neutral and pastel coloured dresses perfectly.

Soft blush pink- romantic and feminine

Not just for fairytale princesses, another way to add a pop of colour without it being overpowering is with soft blush pink. It might sound like a cliché (although cliches exist for a reason!), but blush pink wedding shoes exude romance, making them a timeless and popular choice for both modern and more traditional brides. It’s just such a pretty colour and acts almost like a neutral, complimenting most wedding looks and adding a touch of sophisticated elegance. Being such a versatile shade, you’ll also find it super easy to wear blush pink shoes again and again long after the big day itself.

Gold- chic glamour

Fact- you can’t beat a trusted pair of gold heels. Gold shoes add a touch of luxury and glamour to any outfit and what better one to choose than your bridal ensemble? Whether you choose a classic metallic or slightly more matte, antique shade, gold shoes compliment pretty much any colour, but work particularly well with neutrals like ivory and champagne, as well as providing a stunning contrast to bolder colours such as forest green and rich navy. A good pair of gold heels are a practical and stylish investment and will become your go to pair of heels whatever the occasion.

Lastly don’t forget that the most important thing about choosing your wedding shoes is to enjoy it. Whether you opt for classic ivory, make your shoes your something blue, fall in love with mint or blush or go for gold, you do you. Each colour offers its own vibe so consider your personal style, your wedding theme and how you want your wedding shoes to feature as part of your overall bridal look. With the right pair of shoes you’ll not only look amazing, you’ll feel it too as well as super confident, so have fun and if you really can’t decide, I mean what’s the other cliché? Life’s short, buy the shoes.

Love,

Rachel xx
